How should we charge for the hackerspace?  Which components/combinations of such should we consider? E.g. Flat monthly fee, pay-per-use, locker rental, workshop rental, F&B, fundraiser events, sponsorship (corporate or otherwise)我们该如何收取参加Hackerspace的费用?

  • Julian: I would personally like to see: 我个人认为:
    • A low monthly fee (e.g. a few hundred dollars) plus some sort of pay-per-use scheme (e.g. HK$50 per day for workshop usage), so that members who use the tools more can pay for their upkeep.
    • I would also be happy to pay maybe HK$100-200 per month for a locker if I needed one.
    • If I wanted exclusive use of a workshop or a space, I'd be happy to pay for it.
    • F&B: I think a vending machine or the like would be nice.
    • Fundraiser events (e.g. trade days etc)
    • Sponsorship if we can get it would be nice.
  • William: I prefer flat monthly fee for administrative simplicity, prefereably $700 or lower.
  • Michelle: Agree with Julian.
  • Chun Yin:  I think it will be hard to charge even a few hundred dollars per month - but maybe it is because at present the "value" of such a hackerspace is not apparent.
